I attended Riverbend Festival last night. It’s a nine day music festival held in Chattanooga around this time of year every year. It’s been going on for twenty years now.
I really enjoyed the early years but those are gone. It was originally a build up to Formula One powerboat racing on the river with concerts nightly the week before and a big headliner finishing off the final night. Fireworks always close down the festival. The powerboat series ended years ago and what was left was the music.
Don’t get me wrong. I will purchase a pin every year and go to at least two nights of the festival. The festival is a wonderful bargain for sampling a lot of up and coming bands and seeing some old favorites that are way past their prime but still touring. I just miss the original atmosphere . . . or maybe I’m just getting old.
