Sunday there were at least a couple of federal legislators telling the world on the talking heads shows how they believed already that there was criminal behavior at the top of Enron and that they would be some very hard questions asked in the upcoming hearings. On Monday Kenneth Lay decided that there was no good reason to stand before any congressional committee and answer questions unless he was being compelled to do so. This was immediately followed by promises that a subpoena would be issued to do the compelling. This morning Kenneth Lay went missing. Why doesn’t congress let the professional investigators handle these things? What good does a congressional investigation do?
