Has France Brokered a Peace Deal In Ivory Coast?
February 10th, 2003 by Larry D. Burton
President Laurent Gbagbo has given a conditional approval to the peace plan offered by France to settle the Ivory Coast’s ongoing civil war. A lot of his supporters disagree with this move but perhaps stopping the violence and getting both sides to work out a coalition government arrangement will be the best thing in the long run.
I hate to say it but I don’t really understand what the rebels are rebelling over. I’ve done a little research on the problems in the Ivory Coast and looked into their recent history but none of it really tells me why these folks can’t just get along.
