It has been a nice respite from travel but, for the most part, I’ve enjoyed my short trip back on the road. For the past three days I’ve been working at the Port of Tampa and staying in Ybor City. The flight down was pleasant enough and now I’m waiting in the Tampa Airport for my flight back to Atlanta. TPA has free wireless internet.
Travel procedures have changed just enough to throw me off balance. Most of the changes being my nature of travel. I’m not leaving for long periods of time so I changed over to a computer bag with enough room to put a couple of nights worth of clothes in but still be small enough to carry on. I’m still learning how to pack with my new luggage. Doing without the Leatherman on the job site isn’t as bad as I thought it would be.
I went to a hockey game Monday night. The Tampa Lightening were playing the Carolina Hurricanes, Stanley Cup winners of 2004 and 2005 respectively. You’d have thought it would have been a good game. It wasn’t. The Hurricanes won 5 to 1 with some of the awkwardest playing I’ve seen outside of the minors. At least the brawls were pretty good.
I had lunch in Ybor City. Next time I’m down here I need to check things out a little better at night. My lunch today was a little late but I wanted to finish my work and have the rest of the day to do a little sight seeing. Lunch took too much of that time but it was relaxing sitting on the sidewalk eating my gyro platter. At least it was relaxing until an old hippie on a cruiser bicycle rode around the corner on the sidewalk and nearly knocked over my table.
I may be back next week. If I am I’ll get a few more shots down there. Right now I need to catch a plane.
