This is either a great idea that will save a ton of lives or it is just another gimmick to drive up health care costs. I guess it all depends on how much it can be sold for and whether or not it will be covered by insurance or the AHA.
Washington: An inconspicuous device in your bra could help catch breast cancer early. The humble brassiere could play a more pivotal role as a US based company has unveiled plans for a hi-tech device that can be worn inside the bra to help detect breast cancer.

“I saw it with my own eye, and it is bigger than a baseball — about the size of a softball,” Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokeswoman Carli Segelson said in a telephone interview with the Los Angeles Times. “It is a very pretty eye.”

A line of a poem got stuck in my head and I started fleshing it out. 1640 somehow became a part of it so I started researching that year in history to see where I might be led. That brought me to this weblog post about a man named Hugh Bewitt. It seems he was a heretic that got himself kicked out of Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1640. He was taken in by Providence Plantation which was started by Roger Williams. Now I had heard mention of Williams before but I knew nothing of him. Reading this article has convinced me I need to know more about this man.
Oh, and when this gets kicked into Facebook you won’t see the above link so I’ll just add the url below.
I think I just had a young (teenage?) lady flirt with me. She complimented my eyes and hair.
Why is it usually a police officer or city official that gets reported doing this stuff?
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (AP) – A police officer on Georgia’s coast is asking a judge to issue a warrant against a preacher over comments posted about her on Facebook.
Brunswick police Officer Barbara Hartman asked Glynn County Magistrate Wallace Harrell on Thursday to issue the warrant charging the Rev. Ken Adkins with making false statements or writings.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry over this:
Cyberattacks Could Become as Destructive as 9/11: Panetta – Bloomberg. “The Defense Department is drafting new rules that will allow the military to defend U.S. “national interests” in addition to its own computer networks, Panetta said in prepared remarks delivered in New York on board the USS Intrepid, an aircraft carrier that’s now a museum.”
So we are going to have something like the TSA protecting our networks? I’m troubled by his statement:
Attackers “are targeting the computer control systems that operate chemical, electricity and water plants, and those that guide transportation throughout the country,” he told the annual awards dinner of Business Executives for National Security, a non-profit group that applies business practices to national security.
“We know of specific instances where intruders have successfully gained access to these control systems,” Panetta said. “We also know they are seeking to create advanced tools to attack these systems and cause panic, destruction, and even the loss of life.”
Okay, I’ve heard this before. Dan pointed this out on Flutterby the other day linking to this report:
But Tim K writes in about a rather stunning admission by DHS officials of a bogus DHS report on a water pumping facility. It essentially amounts to: “sure the report is a complete lie, but it was a successful lie.”
And there was this Wired commentary on the matter:
Even after the FBI and other investigators concluded a few days later that there was no merit to the hacking claims and that the reports were false, the DHS intelligence unit did not issue a correction to its report or notify Congress or the intelligence community that the information it spread was incorrect.
So please forgive me if I’m not too quick in taking Mr. Panetta at his word on this matter. DHS has poisoned the well, cried wolf once too often. They sound like Chicken Little.
Terry Jones isn’t being allowed to visit Canada. He claims it is a violation of his free speech rights but I don’t see it that way since we allow him to speak all he wants here in the US. No, this isn’t a violation of his free speech rights, it’s the consequences of him being such a blatant bigoted jerk. See, there are consequences to what we say and the consequence of Terry Jones being Terry Jones is that he can’t go places that he has to get permission from to go there.
Heck, if I was Canada I’d not let him in either. He can speak all he wants but there is no compelling reason to allow him to speak in Canada and all sorts of reasons to tell him he’s free to speak from Florida but not Canada. I’d like to ban him from Georgia too but I’ll defend his right to speak in this country all he wants. I’ll also defend everyone else’s right to ostracize him for being the bigoted jerk he is.
There is also a right to freedom of association. ;)
I think I need this jacket for riding my bicycle to work this winter.. I believe it would give me the warmth I need along with the style I need for the office.
Gary Johnson Officially On The Ballot In Pennsylvania. The Republican party has been challenging Johnson at every turn this election season succeeding in keeping him off the ballot with legal challenges in Michigan and Oklahoma. However he will be on the ballot in the rest of the 48 states along with D.C. and Guam.
Wow! They look like a couple of prizefighters posturing before the fight.
