We are talking about people out in public, showing their faces in public, in areas that are known to use video surviellence. I don’t see the problem with digitizing the faces and comparing them to a mugshot data base. It does cause one to think of other applications. One could compare the faces of customers of retail shops to those of known shoplifters.
