I’m in Chattanooga this week. This is the last week working with my current company and I’ve got way too many things to wrap up for the time I have left. I start working with my new company in Norcross, GA next week. Last week I spent in the Mobile, Alabama area and the week before back in Chattanooga. I’ll be glad to be off the road for a little while next month. I never thought I’d say it but it will be nice to have time to get out and trim the shrubs.

I had a few minutes this morning and for some reason getting the search function working again on this site seemed like a good idea. The search box is working again.

Since moving to Lawrenceville I’m finding some local websites that are extremely handy. This site giving live traffic information based on surveillence cams and radar information for average traffic speeds really help for planning a commute.

Derwin Brown beat incumbant sheriff Sydney Dosey in the 2000 Dekalb County Georgia election for sheriff. Derwin Brown never lived to take office. He was gunned down in his driveway on December 15, 2000. Today, Sydney Dorsey goes on trial for the murder.

Evidently Ev and Company are having a few more growing pains. Blogger tags appear to have changed causing me some grief with my XML template that I’m using and Blogger seems to have lost the ability to retrieve my template for editing. It’s saving it back okay and using it properly for building the file it sends to my website but it can’t find it to put into the template box when you try to edit it. This has caused me about an hour of grief this morning and reinforced the lesson of keeping a copy of my template locally for times like this. Never trust someone else to keep a backup for you.

I got my ADSL line (actually, it’s IFITL, but I’ll go into that later) installed this past Thursday and promptly got too busy to do any journaling or blogging. Things are going very well in Lawrenceville. My plans had been to keep my old job and telecommute when my presence wasn’t absolutely needed in Chattanooga. That plan has changed. A company with a local office has offered me a job doing the same thing I was doing plus doing some things that I’ve always wanted to do for a good deal more money. I took the job.
Also some of you may recall me mentioning my mother dying on Christmas Day this past year. She and my father had been married for just short of 52 years. After Mom passed away I was afraid Dad would just give up on life and fade away himself. He almost did but about a month ago he came to the realization that that isn’t what Mom would want for him and he started seeing a lady that taught my Mother’s Sunday School class. Dad has recovered from his depression and they are getting married next weekend. I’ve had a number of relatives calling me concerned about the suddenness of this marriage but I see my father happy again, my future step mother appears to be a very nice and caring lady and at 75 my dad has recieved more than my mother dying lately as a lesson in mortality. I don’t see a problem with all this. I know my father loved my mother and I know my mother isn’t coming back. I want Dad to be happy again.
