While I like the idea of privitizing Social Security this plan sounds an awful lot like this plan.

Yes, Larry, Bush’s plan does share something with the ideas of the folks in your second link; eschatological finance. A trillion here, a trillion there, pretty soon it adds up to real money.
I think the only realistic plan for SS is to alter all three components, taxes, age of retirement and level of benefits. Bitter medicine even then, but better than beggaring our grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
