Job Search Update

Things have gone well with my job search. I’ve interviewed with three companies and it looks very much like I’ll get a job offer from two of them. It’s always nice to be in a position to decide which job would be the best.

The job search this time around has reaffirmed some things I’ve learned in the past. Before starting the process I spent an afternoon making a list of what I do. I then went through the list and was brutally honest with myself on what my skill levels were on each skill. I then went through the list again and ordered the list on how well I liked doing each task.

I had done this before but it really surprised me how some of my skills had improved and some had deteriorated over the last list. It also surprised me how the order of liked tasks had changed. This helped me be as honest as I could in each interview when asked about the tasks. I’m confident in my abilities so I wasn’t worried about what the interviewer felt about my weaknesses. If my weaknesses were a problem I wanted them to know about it. I also wanted them to know that my strengths were truely my strengths.

I should know for sure by next week where I’ll be working. Yes, I’m that confident that I will be working.

Giving you a reason to re-examine your work skills and accomplishments sure looks to be a plus for you in this case, Larry, and I suspect that such an evaluation should be done on a regular basis for everybody.

I am glad you are having good results, at least potential, in you job search. It is nice to have people show interest in your abilities and know that somebody will hire you soon.

Next time you drive through Chattanooga, give a holler, via email or board.

Will do, Felix. Of course some of my visits are just up there and back to take care of family business.
