I liked your list. I agreed with every bit of it. I was surprised. I expected there to be some point of contention. I hope you are well.

How quickly we forget. Having been a Methodist for my adolescent and the majority of my Adult life I'm a bit embarrased to admit that I had to google that.

My wife and I tried the entireity (sp?) of the Methodist churches when we moved, only to be dissapointed by one thing or another (Minister stepping down due to in-appropriate behavior with a secretary being the biggest) we finally settled in a "Christian Church" which is non-denominational (sp?).

Other things we don't do...

- pray the lords prayer (unless it's a special event)
- Sing the trinity (another thing I've forgotten) during the offetory processional.
- Stand up, sit down, stand up, sit down during the service (I admit, I don't miss this).
- Ash Wednesday
- Sunrise Service

All of these customs that I've listed, I don't think make the church any better or worse. Which is why we call this our church home.

One of the reasons that I've remained a Methodist all these years is that the denomination is fairly inclusive. If you can recite the Apostle's Creed and find some way to agree with the entire creed then you've gotten the absolutes out of the way. The rest we'll discuss and debate and agree to disagree over.

I can agree with every one of the elements of your credo. Too inclusive for most mainline churches, but that is their problem.

I like a big tent for my beliefs, a church that will mainly let you alone on matters of personal belief.
