Waiting Again At The ATL

Here I sit in ATL once again awaiting a flight out to Austin, Texas. I got in line at 6:15 this morning to vote. The polls opened at 7:00 and I was out by 7:39. In that hour and twenty-four minutes my mind changed again on my vote.

I didn’t want to do it.

I have been working long hours out of town for the past two weeks and it looks like I’ll be doing the same for the next two weeks. I have managed to watch portions of all the debates and I think Bush did better on his delivery in his second and third debate with Kerry. [...]

Debates

I managed to stay awake through 30 minutes of the debate last night. I thought Kerry was well prepared and eloquent in his speaking. I thought Bush was on the defensive and stammering too much. In delivery I’ll give the debate to Kerry. However, I heard nothing last night that made me want to jump [...]

FahrenHYPE 9/11

Now for a word from the other side.

29%

California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, New Jersey, North Carolina are the eleven states with the most electoral votes in the nation. Together they have 271 electoral votes. It takes 270 electoral votes to become president. Under our current system if a candidate for President of the United States wins these [...]

This is going to bite them.
A former Democratic senator who lost three of his limbs during the Vietnam War plans to deliver a letter of protest to President Bush Wednesday, asking him to denounce political advertisements questioning John Kerry’s war record.
Last night Kerry had some sympathy over the unfairness of the Swift Boat Veterans for [...]

Cute Cartoon

I’ve often said that the “cry baby factor” has a lot more effect on my decision to vote for or against a political candidate than their political promises. With that in mind, Nealz Nuze had this political cartoon that gave me a chuckle.
What do I consider adds to the cry baby factor? Basically, if you [...]

While he’s absolutely right I don’t believe he has a whole lot of room to talk.
BOSTON - Sen. John Kerry accused President Bush on Thursday of relying on front groups to challenge his record of valor in Vietnam, asserting, “He wants them to do his dirty work.”
Michael Moore, Terry McAuliffe, MoveOn.org, Al Franken [...]

Blues, Reds and Pinks

I take a glance at the Electoral Vote Predictor almost daily, just to see what is changing. Nothing lately but today something struck me.

Electoral College Graph

You may have noticed the Electoral College graphic in my sidebar. It updates with every update on Electoral-Vote.com updates their site. I really like that site in that it puts the polls we hear about into proper perspective. It is the states that elect the president in this country, not the individuals.
Today I found another [...]

In defence of the FairTax

Over on Flutterby! there is a discussion over the declining wages in this country over the past few decades. Anyway I mentioned the FairTax and was promptly told how unfair the FairTax is.
I fail to understand how people can get their minds so twisted as to not understanding that everyone paying a single rate on [...]

Presidential Politics No. 1

This election has really had my stomach tied up in knots. I’m really not all that dissatisfied with George W. Bush’s accomplishments as president but the part that does have me dissatisfied is a doozy. I understand the importance of security these days and I’ll allow for a little closer policing of the populace these [...]

Regime Change Guide

Dori had a link to the Regime Change Guide that had a section that I found troubling.
Do you have a residency in any of these states? Parents? Grandparents? Cousins? Aunts? Uncles? Friends? Just one friend? An acquaintance? Someone you had coffee with at some point in the last few years of your life? What we’re [...]

I am so pleased to discover that the SC still holds our right to a day in court precious.
Congress did give the president authority to hold Hamdi, a four-justice plurality of the court said, but that does not cancel out the basic right to a day in court.

I personally feel so much more personal [...]

It came two days early. Iraq is now officially a sovereign nation again. My take on it is that the early handover has probably foiled the Iraqi insurgents in any ideas they may have had in marking the day of handover with coordinated attacks on the new government. Aljazeera is reporting another take on the [...]
